Telus profit rises on wireless growth
Telus Corp. says its 2012 revenue picture is shaping up to be a better than expected.
The national telecom company had $2.7 billion in revenue during the second quarter, a four per cent increase over the same time last year.
The second-quarter growth was due primarily to the strength of the company’s wireless business, which operates under the Telus and Koodoo brands.
The telecom company’s net income was $328 million, up 1.2 per cent from the same time last year. Earnings per share rose to $1.01 from 99 cents.
Telus (TSX: T) is also raising its revenue target for the year by $50 million, due to better-than-expected performance at its wireline segment.
