Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business, and Economic Development, will visit the Philippines on September 19 and 20, 2022.

In this, the first trip to the Philippines by a Canadian Cabinet minister since 2018, the Minister will meet with government and business leaders to advance trade and investment between Canada and the Philippines, according to a press release.

The Minister will also exchange views with Philippines representatives on Canada’s efforts to continue the progress toward strengthening its partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region, including through a Canada-Association of Southeast Asian Nations free trade agreement.

“The Philippines is one of Canada’s most important trading partners in the Indo-Pacific region, and I have seen first-hand in communities across Canada the strong and growing people-to-people ties between our 2 countries. This visit to the Philippines will bring further opportunities to strengthen those ties and build on a relationship that brings prosperity to Canadians and Filipinos alike,” she said.
