
New Egyptian Ambassador To Canada Presents credentials To Governor General

New Egyptian Ambassador in Ottawa, Ahmed Hafez, on Thursday, presented his letter of credence to Her Excellency, the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada.
“I had the honour to present my letter of credence today to H.E. the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada. My journey to bolster Egyptian-Canadian relations has officially begun,” the ambassador said in a tweet.
The governor general welcomed today seven new heads of mission to Canada during a ceremony at Rideau Hall.
The following new heads of mission presented their credentials:

Ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay
His Excellency Fitsum Arega Gebrekidan
Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia

Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia
His Excellency Ahmed Abdallah Ibrahim Hafez
Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt
His Excellency Michel Miraillet
Ambassador of the French Republic
His Excellency Georgios Ioannides
High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus
Upon their arrival in Canada, new heads of mission must present their letters of credence to the governor general before they can carry out their duties. Letters of credence are the official documents that accredit a diplomat as an ambassador or high commissioner to another country.
