For anyone who has ever proudly exclaimed “I am Canadian”, Molson Coors Canada is providing yet another reason to celebrate and be proud of our nation, as it strengthens its support for the Canadian Olympic Family, the Canadian Olympic Committee announced today.
The renewed and strengthened agreement to help Canadian Olympic athletes go for Gold spans 2013 to 2016 and raises Molson Coors to the level of Official Supporter of the Canadian Olympic Team.
“Molson Coors has helped generations of Canadians celebrate important sport moments,” said Marcel Aubut, President of the Canadian Olympic Committee. “It is a brand that has truly exemplified what it means to be proudly Canadian. On the heels of our country’s biggest annual birthday bash, we are delighted that Molson Coors is reaffirming its relationship with our organization, and we are pleased to be celebrating this passionate commitment to Canada’s athletes.”
“Like all Canadians, we have a role to help carry the torch for our Canadian athletes and we are thrilled to be taking our support to the next level,” said Stewart Glendinning, CEO of Molson Coors Canada. “We are excited to once again support our incredible Olympians and stand behind them during their quest for Gold. We look forward to raising our glasses to cheer them on!”
“It’s always fantastic news when such an iconic brand like Molson Coors backs us athletes,” said Haley Irwin, Vancouver 2010 Olympic Gold medallist in Women’s Ice Hockey. “In addition to the support of family, friends and coaches, support of organizations like Molson Coors goes a long way in allowing athletes to realize their Olympic dreams. The fact that they believe in us so much that they are actually coming back again and with more support is incredibly motivating, and I can’t wait to celebrate our future Olympic victories together.”
“I am so happy that Molson Coors has once again decided to join our Olympic Team, addedAntoine Valois-Fortier, London 2012 Olympic Bronze medallist in Judo. “There is an incredible amount of support for us athletes right now in Canada, and I truly believe that partnerships like this will make a difference in producing results on the field of play come competition time.”
At the heart of the relationship between Molson Coors and Canadians is the enduring capacity to create and celebrate classic Canadian moments. This is why Molson Coors is stepping up its efforts in the promotion of Olympic sport in Canada and increasing their support like never before in the company’s history. Earlier this year, Molson Coors conducted a national research study with their customers across the country and in recognition of the feedback received, a generous donation of $10,000 will be given to the Canadian Olympic Foundation. Molson Coors is also in the final stages of developing a program that will see a substantial financial contribution being made to Canadian Olympic hopefuls to help supplement funding and fill in the gaps in our athletes’ final push toward Sochi 2014. Details on the program will be released later this year.
Molson Coors and the Canadian Olympic Committee encourage all Canadians to celebrate responsibly.
