Mayor Rob Ford has called the Star story that says he has battled alcohol abuse “an outright lie” without refuting any of the specifics in it.

Ford made the comments at a city hall ceremony Tuesday after presenting the “key to the city” to Canadian boxing legend George Chuvalo, 75, who now goes to schools to speak out against substance abuse which has plagued his family.
“It’s an outright lie, it’s the Toronto Star going after me again and again and again,” Ford said when asked about the story and if he was, as it reports, asked to leave the Toronto Garrison Ball last month because organizers were concerned about they mayor’s condition.
