Corus Quay, the new Toronto headquarters for Corus Entertainment, is located on Toronto’s waterfront. Corus Entertainment is a Canadian-based media and entertainment company, and a market leader in specialty television and radio, with additional assets in pay television, television broadcasting, children’s book publishing and children’s animation.
Corus Quay was designed by world-renowned architect Jack Diamond of Diamond Schmitt Architects. The interior was outfitted by Quadrangle Architects Ltd., an expert in broadcast architectural design.
Corus Quay was developed by Toronto Port Lands Company, formerly known as the City of Toronto Economic Development Corporation (TEDCO),and is owned by H&R REIT. Corus Quay is the anchor project in the revitalization of East Bayfront, bringing life, energy and business opportunities to Toronto’s waterfront neighbourhood.
With the creation of Corus Quay, the Company has successfully brought together 11 independent Toronto-based operations, including 24 television services, three Toronto radio stations and over 1,100 employees. Built for growth, the configuration of the operation allows for up to three times as many services to be delivered from the facility.
The state-of-the-art media production, broadcast and distribution facility features advanced technologies and organizational design that sets a new standard for broadcast and content operations throughout the world.
Corus Quay’s technological infrastructure was designed by Siemens and is one of the most ambitious and technologically sophisticated facilities of its kind. The fully integrated digital operation enables Corus to seamlessly collect, transfer and distribute content on multiple platforms including Video on Demand, broadband and broadcast giving the Company an unparalleled ability to adapt and react to customers needs and the marketplace.
Corus Quay has been designed as an open concept work environment to foster collaboration and innovation. With street level radio studios and a studio performance space that opens onto Canada’s Sugar Beach, Corus Quay plays a vital role in the activities of the waterfront community.
Corus Quay is LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certified, and features a number of “green” initiatives including energy efficient lighting, a living five storey bio-wall, use of local and recycled materials and reused rain water to reduce water consumption amongst other initiatives.
