Today’s Opening Ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games will air live in Canada across the multiple media platforms operated by Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium.
The coverage starts with a special Pre-Show at 2 p.m. on CTV, RDS, Sportsnet, TSN, V, OMNI.2, ATN,,, and on the CTV Olympics London 2012 and RDS olympiques pour Londres 2012 mobile apps.

The Opening Ceremonies get underway about 4 p.m., with a planned three-and-a-half hour extravaganza directed by two-time Academy Award-winner Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire).

As well, for the first time, the broadcasts of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies will include described video, provided by Descriptive Video Works. It’s the first time this service will be available to blind and visually impaired audiences for the Olympic Games.
Radio coverage of the Opening Ceremony airs on Sportsnet 590 The FAN live from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
