Arlene Dickinson Enterprises to launch new magazine for entrepreneurs
Arlene Dickinson Enterprises (ADE), a new company from Arlene Dickinson of CBC’s
Dragons’ Den
fame, is launching a magazine in conjunction with a larger initiative focused on
the “entrepreneurial lifestyle.”
Over the coming months, ADE says it will
be “launching a magazine, television formats, a social network for
entrepreneurs, podcasts, an e-commerce website and more that will feature
entertaining and engaging new content aimed at them.”

The first issue of
You Inc., which will be in printed form, is scheduled for spring 2013.
Additional details about the magazine are scarce at the moment, with more to
come in the near future.

It appears the scope of the project (which
already has an online component of the same name here) goes beyond Canadian borders; ADE announced that it
signed a letter of intent with Metroland Media Group (a subsidiary of Torstar)
and as a result will be “better positioned to commercialize products across a
number of platforms throughout North America and overseas.”

Kirchner Private Capital Group (KPCG), a North American boutique firm providing
operational and transactional support and asset management services, has also
joined as a partner of ADE.

“We are entering a period I call the
‘Entrepreneurial Economy’ with more people choosing to take on the
entrepreneurial lifestyle than ever before. My new company is poised to seize
this trend,” said Dickinson in the release. “We are creating an entrepreneurial
lifestyle brand, with the goal of helping entrepreneurs achieve the greatest
success possible with their ventures…We want to help by championing and
identifying services to help entrepreneurs succeed, and we want to speak to them
through media in a way that is educational, entertaining and that celebrates
their lifestyle.”

Dickinson is well-known as an independent marketing
communications entrepreneur. In 1988, she became a partner in Venture
, later becoming the sole owner and chief executive officer in
1998. She remains chief executive of that venture.
