The Advertising Club of Toronto presents Out of Home Showdown, the first annual competition of out of home campaigns executed in Canada over the past year, set to the legendary style of an elegant Vegas boxing event.
OOH media providers will enter their campaigns to compete for trophies and the coveted grand prize “The Purse”. The event has moved to the evening starting with a cocktail schmooze from 5:00 until the sit down dinner and the “Fight to the Finish” commencing at 6:45, presented by a celebrity guest host.
9 rounds of competitive entries will be judged in advance by a panel of industry heavy weights. All entries in each of the 9 categories will be presented on stage and the final 2 contenders pre-selected by the judges will face off for your live votes.
The 10th round and final bout will be the showdown of all category winners. A combination of the judge’s votes and the live voting will determine who wins “The Purse”.
Cocktails, dinner, wine and entertainment are included. Cash bar from 6:45pm excluding wine with dinner. DJ and party begin after the presentations.

The Details

What it is & Who may enter
This is a competition of outdoor advertising campaign execution of various forms or a combination thereof using concepts, techniques, creativity and/or innovative technology.

The competition is not based on creative however that may play a large part of what makes the campaign interesting or unique. The OOH Showdown Competition is open to all media suppliers involved in the process of executing an out of home campaign. Ads eligible for entry must have run at some time during the period from July 1, 2011 until August 31, 2012, The person submitting the entry will be considered the “main contact” and will receive all communications regarding the competition and will be the only person allowed to make changes to the entry data once it is submitted.
While entries are limited to media suppliers only, clients may not enter but may nominate their campaigns to encourage their suppliers to enter.
There is no limit to the number of entries, you may enter as many times or in as many categories as you like.
Entry fee is $295 and is also classified as a sponsorship. In addition to the competition, logo recognition and continuous loops of the entries at the event is included.
What to submit
The entries will be presented and looped on large screens at the event. The presenter will acknowledge all information contained in the entry form including the description. Entries are to be submitted in slide or video type format and limited to a maximum of 20 seconds. Acceptable formats are PPT, WMV and AVI. The files should be complete in the form in which it will be presented. Audio is allowed, music or narration is encouraged to add impact to the video. Submissions not made by the deadline may be disqualified and no refund will be issued.

Judging Criteria
The OOH Showdown judges represent various sectors of the advertising industry. Entries will be judged on the judging criteria and compete head-to-head with other entries within their specific category.

Our judges are experienced professionals with an in-depth understanding of the current state-of-the-art in advertising design and technology and the objectivity to score entries according to a predefined set of criteria. The judges will select 2 top campaigns for each category that will then be voted on live at the event. The winners of each category will then be entered into the finale where a combination of judge’s votes and live votes will determine the overall winner.
Awards
Each category winner will receive an engraved trophy. The Grand Prize winner will receive a trophy and have an Ad Club scholarship in the amount of $1,000 named after them. All winners will receive mention on the Ad Club web site.
